The instructions to this step of "Check the Corn Fields" are very vague, more specific instructions to go to Granny Marl or even delete this step since you are guiding us to Granny Marl who in the step 163 offers us quests.

If you go to the coordinates for step 162 you are right there with Granny. The reason it's a separate step is because of making sure that you have the quest objective credit for searching the cornfield for The Farmsteads quest.
