Zygor: So true, that is the ;) was for :)
Offtopic: I see people in here quote from the post over their own. Did you know that that can makes post a real pain to read? Makes threads unnecessary long.
We have the same problems on forums here in Norway too.
Im an moderator on the largest Apple forum in Norway (mac1.no) and this kind of posting realy keeps me buzzy all day long.
I think its better to use an "name:" instead of all the text then quoting from the post right over your own.
Just my 2silver.

Yes, we're going to start working on the event guide in about 30 minutes, when the servers switch over and the event becomes active.

It all comes from playing the game. Which is why it takes a while after the event goes live.
They also get into the PTRs and the expansion betas to bring us the best guides possible.

They normally get the initial quest information from WoWHead, but go into the game after the event is live on the US servers to verify all of the information.
Henric, do you play on an Oceanic server or a US server? Keep in mind that Zygor works off of eastern time (America) I believe and that's currently 14 hours behind eastern time (Australia).

Do we have to buy event guides like this one or is it free to members?

June 21st, 2010, 08:42 PM
There are 2 separate guides available for purchase from Zygor, the leveling guides and the Dailies & Events guides. If you only own the leveling guides then you'll have to purchase the Dailies & Events guides to have access to this. If you already own the Dailies & Events guides then this is part of the free updates.

Hi,
I have the Alliance and Horde levelling guides, but not the dailies. Just checked in game and i do have the option for Childrens Week. Was this an out of the ordinary give away? I was expecting the midsummers guide too, but based on what you've said above i would need to purchase the dailies guide too?
Thanks,
Wasca

I am also waiting for the update but you can do things to help while waiting.
Reference:
http://www.wowwiki.com/Midsummer_Fire_Festival
Paths for flying (large time waster):
A = http://www.wowwiki.com/Quest:Midsummer_Bonfires_%28Alliance%29
H = http://www.wowwiki.com/Quest:Midsummer_Bonfires_%28Horde%29
You are going to be required to touch all the bonfires and that is a huge waste of time so why not do that while waiting for guide updates? Then you can focus on the harder items when the update is released :)

Yeah, we're still waiting here in the US also. Hopefully Zygor will get it released today, but on the bright side the event runs for 2 weeks which will hopefully give us plenty of time to do everything.

Can anyone give us a recap on stealing/extinguishing the opposing factions flame especially in the enemies capital cities? Is it best to do as a group or try and sneak in yourself?

If you are level 80, I would just run in and head straight for the flame. Since they reduced the casting time when you click the flames from 5 seconds down to 1 second, it is much easier to run in, grab the flame, then run out if you can. If you can't run out, just make sure you have the flame and resurrect at the graveyard when you die.
If you are not level 80, then it's probably best to try to get the flames as a group.

We're trying, but the servers are down in the US, and the downtime keeps getting pushed back. The servers have been down for the past 11 hours now. The guide is almost done, though, so it shouldn't be too long before we release it, once the servers come up - unless we run into some snags.

We are working on it. The game servers were down for 14 hours straight in the U.S. so we lost an entire day's work there, unfortunately. As well, we currently have a problem with our updater system, so we are working to fix that.
We hope to have the Midsummer guide released tomorrow (later today). Sorry for the delay.

I've never done the Midsummer quests. I work over 10 hours every day, including Sunday. I was looking forward to using my Zygor daily guide for this festival, but started doing the quests with Wowhead knowing it would take you a bit to get the guide ready.
I kept an eye on this thread for updates constantly, even during work. I have to say, I'm surprised and a bit disappointed in the way you've handled the Midsummer update. This festival is not that difficult, unlike Children's Week with the Battleground quests. Not much has changed from last year from what I understand. Yet, here it is 5:15 am PDT on Tuesday, over two days after the Festival began, and still no update. It's true that Blizzard extended their update by 7 hours, but your delay is more than 7 hours past the normal release time of one to two days. What's more, you could have been posting frequent updates for your anxious clients to fill us in on the difficulties you were confronting. Instead, your notices have been sparse on information as well as few and far between.
In spite of my heavy work schedule and Blizzard's extended maintenance time, I have almost completed the Festival achievements. This makes it even more difficult to understand the delay. It would be so easy to simply explain that you had a server crash or you had a key employee quit or whatever other circumstance it is that has truly caused this odd problem.
Zygor, you have a loyal fan base. I enjoy your guides a great deal. I image there are many others like myself. The key to keeping that loyalty is not being supter-human - it is communication. Let us know what's going on. Keep us informed. People that are your friends will be very understanding.
I'm chalking this up as an anomaly. I just want to suggest that you be more open about troubles you're having and work on better communication. I doubt this is the last time you'll have trouble with delivering a festival guide right away. It would be great if the next time something goes wrong, you consider having someone post updates more often, and include a note telling us when your next update will be posted. It just takes a minute and it'll keep those of us who wait anxiously for your excellent guide updates from going crazy out here.
Thanks for listening.
Peace
rokku

I have to agree somewhat with this. While I fully understand the reasons for the delay, we need to be updated better than finding posts in unofficial threads.
Especially since the page and video you have advertising the guide states that the dailies guide includes these guides already (when it's obvious they're being done anew when the events roll around).

not to impressed with your remarks Peace but i do undertand that they have had some computer problums with he updater machine it is not working if u searched around you would know

June 23rd, 2010, 12:20 PM
And too, Zygor needs to test out the guide while in game. Got to get it right before it's put out or folk won't be too impressed. Patch Day was a no play day, basically as they'd get some servers up, they'd go down and other servers would go up. But that wasn't happening until it was evening. That is the why of the delay, I'd say.
Add in the problems with the updater machine and you can understand the delay.

I only last night finished the flying around Eastern Kingdoms and hit 3-4 bonfires on Kal. With all of the flying around this is a long time suck festival. So far I think my biggest problem is going to be the thief achievement where I steal the flame from horde capital cities. My wife is headed out of town this weekend again, her sis having a baby early July, so I plan on trying to invade horde cities about 3-4am server time Thurs/Fri/Sat night. Maybe less people standing AT the city gates waiting for suckers like me to try and sneak past.
Any pointers on back ways into the four horde cities would be very helpful. I'll be googling later looking for ways to do these. One person suggested hit the cities right at the start of WG, he thought the big PvP players that are waiting outside cities will go run WG then come back after *shrug*

I managed to do the full acheivement yesterday without the guide...not sure which servers you guys are on but stealing the flames from the capital cities i found very easy with regards to Silvermoon and Undercity(silvermoon city was pretty much deserted in the middle of the afternoon). i play on Chamber of Aspects (EU)..huge stack of gold to be made tho and even got the new pet from Ahune(damn thing always throws snowballs at me tho).
Roll on Hallows End to finnally get me that pink(sorry i mean violet) Proto Drake

Guess I'll get started tonight, I've only managed to run the dungeon once. Time to step it up, I hear the torch juggling is giving people trouble time to find out for myself
