Where do I start?

How do I fiqure out what is the best area to start in and the best rewards for my character? 80 Mage. Any suggestioins would be appreciated.

I'd say start off with doing the pre-requisite sections for the different zones to make sure that all of the available dailies are unlocked.

Let me second Cabby's suggestion for everyone.
First, the IC pre-rep are what got me around 4k gold while I did them, and unlocked a bunch of dailies for me.
Second, I did the "Sons of Hodir" and got about another 1k gold, and unlocked a bunch of dailies for me.
Oh... and if you are like me and run heroics as you work quests, and you are going to do the Argent Crusaders rep runs, get the tabord and put it on. This is HUGE rep for doing what you're going to be doing anyway.
