hello Zygor and fellow questers,

first of all, Zygor (John), let me congratulate you on version 2. It looks and feels great. I have been using your guide for over one year now on many characters and i love it.

Like many "collegues" here i have been looking forward to the new (current) version and (again) you have hit the mark.

I have translated the German language pack in part for my own pleasure and this works fine..another thank you for that feature....

Like most non-english players i have gotten used to the fact that my guide is not advancing automatically on quests and/or items and this poses no real problem for me.

However there is a curious thing happening now with the version 2 guide and i wanted to ask/share if anyone else has noticed this...

On some occasions my guide is now advancing automatically!!! This happens only sporadically and makes no real sense...what happens is that some quest names now appear in German in the guide??? but not all. When the German quests show up the guide automatically, on accepting the quest or handing it it, like you would expect.

My question is, why?? do only show some questnames in German and most in English. I am an experienced LUA programmer and assume/thought that you use quest ID's and not questnames in your guide. If that would be the case all quest should show up in the respective language but not only some....and if you do use questnames, why?? do show some in German??

If anyone out there has any thoughts on that, i would appreciate a comment or two....

Happy questing....

Andy

From me personally looking at the guide lua files it appears that the guide primarily looks for quest names and item names to advance the guide and not the ID numbers. This being said, there's a good possibility that there are a few quests that have the same spelling for both the english and german clients and that would cause the guide to recognize and mark the step as being complete.

The guide does not utilize quest ids in its current version but we are adding this into the guide for a future update. I don't know why some quests would still show up translated to German since all of the code for the guide was written in english.

Good call on the questnames but unfortunately not true...thats why it does not make sense..the German Quetsnames are usually very different from the English ones.

As I said I have checked your LUA files and that is why this does not make sense.

I am glad to hear that you are working on using quest (and i hope item id's) in the future since this will make life for you much more simple and for us users much more enjoyable.

Anyway, good work....

Andy

PS: when I have my current character on 80 I will purchase the Horde Guide also, since I have a strong desire to join the dark side of WoW and explore unknown quests and adventures...

LOL,

by going thru some of my old posts i have come across this one, which i had totally forgotten abaout.

Well since writing that post back in 2008 I have managed to "zygor" a number of chars to level 80 but still have not managed to join the Horde, and to be honest I do not think that I will soon.

I am looking forward to Cataclysm and leveleing a Worgen from Scratch while upgrading my existing 80's to the max.

Good Work and (as always) greetings from Vienna,
Andy

Those new Goblin racials look to be very nice. I might have to level one or two of them, but of course I need to go running around the forests on all fours too. :D
