Navigation system / arrow not working on screen in instances

    Hi.
Is there a specific reason why the navigation arrow / system is not showing on-screen like it used to while in Dungeons / Raids anymore? If you open your map, you can see the navigation steps, etc.. but the waypoint arrow does not show on screen like it does when you are following a leveling guide.

You can thank Blizzard for this. They want to make instances harder for people so they removed the ability for addons to be able to know unit locations while in instances, effectively breaking any kind of positional functions of addons. This means you will not find any addon able to provide an arrow or show you where other players are within an instance.

Sometimes I really don't understand who at Blizzard makes these decisions, and why...
What harm could that bring to the game to be able to determine your location, I mean seriously.
Thanks for replying ZS, I will just have to adapt then

The problem with this, however, is that it kills a LOT of Zygor Guide's functionality for many people. The main reason I use the guides (bought all of them and sub'd elite) is for the dungeons and raids (especially older ones, which often are even more broken with badID's etc).
Without the way-point system, what is the point of the bulk of the guides? Couple this with how drastically professions changed (mostly eliminating the profession level-up & farming guides) and the reality for the end customer is: constant paying for little use or enjoyment.

I know Blizzard is one of the major reasons for the guide's recent decline in quality and usefulness, but there are still many issues (e.g. Isle of Thunder guide, badID's, et. al.) that could (and should) be resolved. You cannot keep pointing the finger at blizzard (well, you can); sooner or later, customers will just stop being customers.

There shouldn't be any bad ID issues in those older locations. Try wiping out your WoW/Cache folder and let that re-build when you log into the game to see if that fixes the bad IDs.

I wiped out everything in my WoW/Cache folder, tried the Isle of Thunder guide on a fresh toon (one that had never been there); and on step 10 (stage 3, Destroy the Barricades) I get "error: bad goal id" like I did on another toon with the old cache.

We'll check into it. Blizzard might have changed around goals in that area.

One thing that really bothers me is that due to not being able to determine locations inside an instance, your guides are now unable to actually "guide" us TO an instance. For example, I am in Dalaran and I load a guide for "Gruuls Lair", there is no navigation towards the entrance of the instance. So for any new people to the game, this makes it impossible to use Zygor Guides for the purpose of getting TO an instance. I understand the navigation while inside an instance, but surely this should still be working as it is the same as questing.... "Locate current position, determine navigation towards loaded guide" until you reach the instance..

We are working on this so it can once again lead to the entrance if you're not using the LFR system.
