Suggesting gear before choosing it

I would love it if there was a feature that would tell you if you should need on an item before you actually do so. I've had several pieces now that I thought would be upgrades and apparently weren't The stat weights can be too convoluted especially at higher levels to rely strictly on the greens and reds in the tooltip.

Even just showing the calculated point total would be fine. I am playing my first warlock and the stat weights are actually very small between multiple stats which makes at a glance comparison really hard. And somehow people don't want to wait for me to break out a calculator.
