Time to farm materials?

Hey everyone, I just purchased the gold guide yesterday and I've been slowly learning how it works. Yesterday I farmed up some volatile water and it worked just about how the guide said it would, took about 40ish minutes to farm. Today Silk Cloth is sold out on my AH, so it recommended I farm that with an expectation of about an hour. So here I am in Stranglethorm farming, but there is NO way I'm going to get the amount of Silk Cloth in an hour that the guide thinks I will.

Currently I'm at 140 Silk which is about 11% of what I'm going for according to the guide. I've already been at it for about an hour now. Is that just a way off guess on how long this should have taken, or was this old data as this farming spot was nerfed or something?

I think you've got an old guide version you are using. I'm looking in the current guide files and Silk Cloth farming is done in Dustwallow Marsh and Eastern Plaguelands. There is some gem farming in Northern Stranglethorn and a Chaos Orb that can be gotten in Northern Stranglethorn but there is nothing else in our farming guides for Stranglethorn.

Wait, I see there is an option for doing it in Northern Stranglethorn. The reason it has one for in there is because of the Wildvine which sells for a lot more than the Silk, Wool, or Mageweave cloth. If you wanted to concentrate on just the cloths then what you want to do is hover over each of the lines in the Farming section of the Gold guide and see what all of the items listed are and go with one that only has the cloths listed in it.

If you're way off on what it thinks you should be getting per hour it could just be a string of bad luck on the drop rate. What other items have you been getting that might make up for the lower silk numbers? How are you doing on the wool and mageweave drops?

Uh oh... so that's no good... I did a live chat with you yesterday Cabby and you helped me install the gold guide as it wasn't showing up. Part of that if I recall correctly was doing a reinstall, so shouldn't I have the latest version?

I should also add that the guide has me farming Wool Cloth and Wildvine. I don't know if that changes which guide it's looking at or not, but thought I should include that information.

I do hate the bad luck Today I was farming Whiptail & Volatile ;life and just had a massive bad luck on the volatiles But got enough to sell.

There does seem to be some variables in there, I don't know how Zygor's came up with the time on farming some spots, but they aren't terribly accurate, now on others they are, but I suppose that's just up to when Blizz decides to nerf a farming spot.
