Recent Java update breaks Zygor's updater?

I just upgraded Java on my machine and now the updater client appears to be a non-responsive window. It looks fine, lists the current version and that there's an update I can download but I can't click on anything.

Have you tried re-starting your computer?

OF COURSE I DID... do I look stupid to you?!?... because apparently that fixed it. So I should look a little stupid to you, as a PC support guy I broke the golden rule. I'll just go have a seat over there.

I have no idea what you look like, so no, you don't look stupid to me.

I'm sorry if you felt Zygor Support's reply didn't appropriately address your concern. Your response is a little unclear, so just to confirm, are you still having an issue with the client?

Oh my gosh no... I was just kidding in my reply, really the first suggestion was the solution to the problem. I'm in IT and the 'golden rule' would be "Did you reboot the machine?" which I didn't think to follow for a Java update, though I should have tried that first. I was just joking when I posted the above trying to sound like one of those loud obnoxious users who assumes they know better than the support staff and then when you prove them wrong they just huff off. I'm sorry if that didn't come through very well in text... it sounded funny in my head, I swear!

I knew what you were trying to do, but I will admit it took me reading the post a couple of times before I realized it was in jest.

I've been having a similar problem for the past few weeks. I'm on a Mac running Yosemite (10.10.3) and the latest Java flavor (v8 update 45) but launching the Zygor Client only results in launching Java (per my Dock) but no Zygor window appears, nor does anything happen after waiting several minutes. Eventually, I just quit Java/Zygor, so I'm using whatever Zygor Guides I last installed successfully, whenever that was.

I installed the Java Runtime thing per the FAQ, rebooted, etc., but the Zygor Guides app simply isn't working for me. In-game, Zygor works as it usually does, but I'm sure it's out of date by now.

Can you offer any suggestions, please?

Try uninstalling the client and re-running the app (no need to re-download anything)

To uninstall, open up Terminal execute
                  java -jar ~/Library/Application\ Support/Zygor\ Guides\ Client/Uninstaller.jar
You can copy paste that command and run it as-is, should work fine IF you have run the client successfully in the past.

After that, just run your Zygor Guides Client.app which should be in /Applications, and it should re-install the client just fine. The server's are running a little slow right now, so if it appears to be hanging, there's no harm in exiting via the Z icon in your tray and trying again.

Let me know if this doesn't solve your issue. We'd be happy to assist you remotely to get your client up and running again.
