As being a MoP Beta Tester, the writing is on the wall daily that Mist of Pandaria release is coming very soon™. PTR is starting most likely this coming weekend with a possible release date announcement within the next couple weeks.

Is the plan to have the Zygor guide addon and guides updated and ready for launch as well? Is your development team already in beta working on it?

Yes they are. Blizzard just recently with the newest patch enabled addons for the beta so they are in there right now (maybe not this minute) working to get it updated for when MoP is released.

I ran a quick test with the guide viewer on the MoP beta and it looked much better than with previous addons.
The creature viewer throws errors but can be turned off.
The query to get completed quests does not work.
The Waypoint arrow did not show up but did not throw an error.

All these seem to be minor bug so I'm pretty sure they can get the guides working in time. This time it was pretty easy to get a beta account

Is it likely that there will be a beta version of the guide that will need testing? I am a big fan, and would love the opportunity to help test it.

Most likely not. They haven't done it before that I know of.

All testing for new guides are done in-house by paid employees for accountability purposes.
