Companion Sprite Darter

I am using the guide to collect Companions, and I am trying to do the Sprite Darter one at the minute. I have been killing the little blighters (Sprite Darters) for about 6 hours now. I have had a few blue and green items of gear drop and loads of rubbish, but NO egg yet. I know it's a low drop rate 0.05 or something like that. But running around in circles, doing nothing but kill them is SOOoooooo boring.

Am I doing something wrong? should I of do a quest or something leading up to killing them?

Or as the guide says, just kill Sprite Darters until the egg drops?

Unfortunately Blizzard removed the quest for this item and the only way to get it at this point is to do the mindless farming to get the drop.

I would like the companion, but don't think it's really worth the time collecting it

Started to use the guild to collect Companions ready for the next expansion where we will be able to put them into duels with other players companions.

Not sure which of them will be best for dueling, any ideas ?

Not a clue. Since the beta hasn't even started yet all anyone can do is guess for that one.

I've already seen people asking in trade chat about which pets are best and somebody was even looking for a partner to set up a pet-duelling team
