Subscription Questions & Concerns Addressed

Hello,

Alright, well it has become abundantly clear that, while it
usually creates a fun atmosphere, the "teaser" video approach
was not the best way to reveal the subscription idea. We
realize it would have been better to reveal all the information
about how much subscriptions will cost, and how previous
customers will be effected.

So, without further ado, let's do that now, shall we? :-)

Subscription Pricing (No Contract):

Alliance OR Horde (each):
$5.99 per month

Alliance & Horde (both):
$7.99 per month

You will not be locked into a contract at all. Zygor will be
a pay-as-you-go service.

Previous Customers:
-------------------------------------------------------------

You will continue receiving updates to the products you've
already purchased before the introduction of subscriptions.
When an expansion is released, we will still offer the option
to Upgrade your products (whichever you purchased before
subscriptions) with a one-time fee. You will also be able to
upgrade your products by simply becoming a subscriber.

Also, even if you do adopt the subscription and then cancel,
you will still have access to the products you purchased prior
to the subscription switch (with updates up until an expansion).
However, upon cancelling, any of the new products within the
subscription would be removed.

On the topic of Updates/Upgrades. It has always been our policy
that an extra Upgrade fee be required to upgrade your products
to the newest World of Warcraft expansion. This has been our
policy since Zygor came to exist about 5 years ago.

In order to gain access to the new products being released,
you will need to adopt the subscription.

New Products Include:
* Professions
* Achievements
* Pets & Mounts
* Titles
* Reputations
* Macros
* Future Expansion Upgrades

Using / Updating With Subscription:
-------------------------------------------------------------

Nothing at all changes in this department. You will update
and use the guides exactly the same as before subscription.
No need to worry about this at all.

Cancelling Your Subscription:

Again, you are not locked into a contract of any kind - you
can cancel your subscription at any time. If you choose to
cancel your subscription, you will no longer have access to
the products. (Previous customers read above)

Yes. One time fee option for expansion upgrades will still be offered to all customers who previously purchased guides.

If you owned the Leveling or Dailies guides before subscriptions were introduced, you will be able to Upgrade those for a one-time fee - yes. If you would like any of the other products, you would need to subscribe. Fair? :-)

Yes, I know . As long as you paid for a lifetime on the leveling & dailies guides, then you can still upgrade your guides for a one-time fee. Alternatively, if you pay for a subscription, you can upgrade your existing guides during the time your subscription is active. Once you cancel the subscription, you lose the upgrades though. So, to answer your question - yes, you can pay to upgrade your lifetime guides with a one-time fee.

Thank you for your reconciderations. I'll have to think about the new price and if 5,99 (I need only one fraction) is accaptable to me. I still have to think about the fact that - at the moment - old costumers only get these 6 new guides for subscription, while new costumers also get the previous guides. At a lower price I would have thought about it as an gift to new costumers, but I recognise the benefit of using the old guides without subscription - even after an addon in WoW. (Btw: An upgrade fee was always accepted by me.)

The lower price makes it a little bit easier to accept such a subscription system, even through I would like to buy not rent new guides. I'm not sure, if I will subscribe under this circumstances at the moment, but it is not so unlikely as a few minutes ago.

But I'm sure of one think: You need more than these 6 new guides to keep this subscription running - maybe even starting - with existing costumers. They are really nice and I said I was looking forward to the archivement guide, but I don't think this will last forever.
I hope you are sure about the change in expectations, when using a subscription system: As a one-time buyer, I buy my product and want it bugfixed and nothing more. In a subscription I ask myself every month: Is it worth the price. And there has to be new festures, guides and more to answer this with yes, instead of just bugfixing.

You have the best guides on the market and I'm glad that this pricing structure seems reasonable. I also appreciate your willingness to extend the currect pricing schema to your loyal customer base!! That was a great marketing decision!!!

Awesome news about the price. Are you going to offer a six month or a three month sub like WoW does? I would like to have a six month sub myself. Or even a yearly sub. I have a six month sub to WoW and would like to do the same for Zygor Guides.

Its great to finally have a firm answer on this, I had been lead to believe the supposed '14.99' price for both after seeing the webpage order form that verified it (not to mention the affiliates page) but now i think i like it.

with the initial statement above i have quoted you on the last 2 items on the sub list above will be irrelevant (for me)

i have 10 x 85's (which you kindly complemented me on) so profs are sorted, titels im not really bothered about. pets and mounts?? i wouldn't spend money on trying to get them, reputations.... well thats covered by dailies mainly (and i have that guide )
leaving just 2 products, macros and Achievements. Both do interest me i will admit... would i buy guides for them... the achievements i thinkso ...macros?? i write my own so you would need to convince me...if you did then yes i would... BUT

tie myself to $6 pcm to use them both? and lose functionality when my bills get too much or i get made redundant? ummm no i dont think so

the beauty of your existing pricing model is that when its bought....its ours ...to fall back on and reffer to for months / years to come ...regardless of our curcumstances.

the new proposed system ...well a new wow player could subscribe for 10 months ($60)...then for whatever reason not be able to afford it anymore and its gone...what does he have to show for his / her $60 ??? nothing.....until he/she can afford to resume paying.

Theres an old addage used over here in the uk
"if it aint broke ....dont fix it"
i really would ask you to reconsider the whole "subscription" idea

(for myself as an"Old customer" i will be happy to coninue paying 1 off payments for guides each expansion as yours are the best)
