Magic Key

Will magic key be returning at some point, it makes leveling go faster where you don't have to look for the next NPC

actually i have the following line in my bindings-cache.wtf

bind ALT-CTRL-SHIFT-3 CLICK ZygorGuidesViewerFrame_Act3Action:LeftButton

and it still seems to work fine.

thats very disappointing to hear.

At least you could document the used variable to be able to create a correspondend macro.
Again the "CLICK ZygorGuidesViewerFrame_Act3Action:LeftButton" works to the current day and is perfectly fine, you just have to not destroy it ;-)

open the bindings-cache.wtf in your text editor
and add a line like this to it.

bind ALT-CTRL-SHIFT-3 CLICK ZygorGuidesViewerFrame_Act3Action:LeftButton

this will bind it to the key-combi: alt+ctrl+shift+3 (in my case one of my mouse buttons)
maybe you should take a look if the keybinding doenst already exist

and yes it still works today.

Barracuda, I tried your suggestion and added
bind CTRL-SHIFT-\ CLICK ZygorGuidesViewerFrame_Act3Action:LeftButton
to my bindings-cache.wtf (account level file) and it's not working.
Shame as the Magic Key is one feature I have been asking to see the return of for quite some time

I even tried it in a macro :
/CLICK ZygorGuidesViewerFrame_Act3Action:LeftButton
This gave no reaction.

Makes me wonder if this is the correct variable.

I was just in game to test this and the key bind still works. Are you sure you're pressing \ and not /?

/ initiates the chat command prompt. So no, not using that. I'll try another keybind and see if it works.
Would the macro "/CLICK ZygorGuidesViewerFrame_Act3Action:LeftButton" work ?

Still no joy. Tried a couple of different keybinds and none worked. Latest one is
bind ' CLICK ZygorGuidesViewerFrame_Act3Action:LeftButton
It does seem to bind the key to the action as when I go to keybindings in game and try and change any others to the key it warns that CLICK ZygorGuidesViewerFrame_Act3Action:LeftButton is unbound with this action.

Am I using the correct bindings-cache.wtf file - the account level one and not the character level one ?

I've also checked all the zygor settings just in case there was something in there but could not find anything.
I've even deleted the savedvariables just in case there was a setting hiding in there, and still no joy
I also shut down all my other addons to see if that was the problem. But still the same.

When you're in game open the Key Bindings window. At the very top is a check box labeled 'Character Specific Key Bindings'. If you have that checked then you'll need to edit the character level file.

Nope. That was not checked. Thought it was the account one as when I checked the character one it was empty

This is what I put in mine and it worked perfectly for me.
bind ALT-CTRL-N CLICK ZygorGuidesViewerFrame_Act3Action:LeftButton

And that is in my WoW/WTF/Account/<accountname>/bindings-cache.wtf file.

I know it's an odd key combo but that's just what I have one of my G19 keys set to so I know I wouldn't use it for something else. Pressing that Gkey activates the magic key and targets NPCs and mobs and uses items in the step being displayed.

Tried yours Cabby, and still the same.
It's in the correct place : WoW/WTF/Account/<accountname>/bindings-cache.wtf
I've tried it at the end of the list of the other 50 keybinds, and moved it up a little to see if being at the end was the problem.
Dang, this is getting annoying now :x
